Dave is a prolific fight director who has choreographed violence for over 300 professional and college productions. He is the resident fight director at San Francisco Opera, California Shakespeare Theatre (Cal Shakes) and Oakland Theatre Project (formally Ubuntu Theatre Project).  He has been awarded several honors including six San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Awards, five Theatre Bay Area Awards and a Falstaff Award.  His work has been seen at American Conservatory Theatre (ACT), Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Berkeley Playhouse, Center Rep, Marin Theatre Co., Magic Theatre, San Francisco Playhouse, La Jolla Playhouse, Santa Cruz Shakespeare, and Shotgun Players, among others. 

Dave is recognized as a Master Fight Director and Master Instructor with Dueling Arts International and is a founding member of Dueling Arts San Francisco.  He has taught combat related courses at Stanford University, University of California Santa Cruz, St. Mary’s College of California, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Studio ACT, Berkeley Rep School of Theatre, and national workshops for Dueling Arts International, as well as independent workshops through Dueling Arts San Francisco.

As a performer, Dave is a member of Actors’ Equity Association (AEA), American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) and an associate member of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC).   Favorite roles include: Athos (The Three Musketeers), Edgar (King Lear), Bad Guy (The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity) and Coach (Colossal).
